Advertising agency founded in 1970 by brothers Maurice and Charles Saatchi, becoming the world's largest in the 1980s.

Saatchi & Saatchi was founded in London by brothers Maurice and Charles Saatchi in 1970. The agency originated from CramerSaatchi, a creative consultancy established in 1967 by Charles Saatchi and art director Ross Cramer. When Maurice joined the business in 1970 after Cramer’s departure, the agency was renamed Saatchi and Saatchi and developed into a full-service advertising firm.

The agency quickly gained attention with campaigns such as the “Pregnant Man” ad for the Health Education Council. By 1975, clients included Associated Newspapers, British Leyland, Cunard, Dunlop, and Nestle. The Saatchi brothers pursued an aggressive acquisition strategy, achieving a public company listing through the reverse takeover of Garland Compton in 1975.

By 1986, the company was the largest advertising firm in the world, with offices throughout the globe. The brothers led the agency until 1995, when they left to form M&C Saatchi. Today, Saatchi & Saatchi continues as a global creative communications network within the Publicis Groupe.
