Branding firm founded by Peter Arnell, creator of the DKNY logo and designer for Pepsi and Reebok.

Peter Eric Arnell founded the firm that became Arnell Group after starting his career as an intern for architect Michael Graves. Born April 22, 1958, in Brooklyn, he studied architecture at Brooklyn Technical High School, graduating in 1976. He initially formed Arnell-Bickford with Ted Bickford in the early 1980s, creating books about artists and architects.

Arnell’s breakthrough came when Bergdorf Goodman hired the firm to create advertisements and later to work with Donna Karan’s new clothing line. He created the DKNY brand identity and its signature style featuring the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, and Manhattan skyline. After Bickford left in 1993, Arnell renamed the company Arnell Group.

Arnell created products, brands, and campaigns for Chrysler, PepsiCo, Reebok, Fontainebleau Resorts, Donna Karan, and Unilever. He received the CFDA award in 1987 as the first non-fashion designer honored by the organization, plus multiple Clio Awards, the Gold IDEA Award from Business Week, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Arnell founded Intellectual Capital Investments in New York City in 2011 and published the New York Times bestseller Shift in 2010.
