French-American creative director and founder of Baron & Baron, visual architect for Calvin Klein and luxury fashion.
Fabien Baron was born July 5, 1959, in Antony, France, the son of a Parisian newspaper designer. He studied design, sculpture, and painting at the École des Arts Appliqués before moving to New York in 1982, where he became art director for Barneys and worked at Self and GQ magazines.
In 1992, Baron began a 20-year collaboration with Calvin Klein as creative director, designing the iconic CK One bottle, the first widely successful unisex fragrance. That same year, he designed Madonna’s controversial Sex book photographed by Steven Meisel and directed the banned music video for its title track.
Baron founded Baron & Baron, a boutique advertising agency specializing in fashion, fragrance, and luxury cosmetics brands. He has served as creative director for Vogue Paris, editorial director of Interview magazine, and shaped visual identities for Givenchy, Fendi, Burberry, and Michael Kors. Vanity Fair called him “the most sought-after creative director in the world.”
