Lundin Petroleum is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company formed in 2001 and based in Sweden with focus on operations in Norway. It is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Market capitalisation at year end 2016 was SEK 67 billion which made Lundin Petroleum the largest independent E&P company in Europe in 2016, measured by market capitalisation. Lundin Petroleum had 114 million cubic metres of oil equivalent of certified reserves at the end of 2016 of which 96 percent was in Norway and contingent resources amounted to 39.6 million m³ of oil equivalent. The company’s commercial success is overshadowed by a Swedish war crimes investigation into its past operations in Sudan. Chairman Ian Lundin and CEO Alex Schneiter are the suspects of the investigation.
