Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) is a not-for-profit community health system dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of people in Northeast Georgia, serving more than 1 million residents across the region. Founded in 1951, NGHS is anchored by five hospital campuses—Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville, NGMC Braselton, NGMC Barrow, NGMC Habersham, and NGMC Lumpkin—and extends care through a robust network of Northeast Georgia Physician Offices and Georgia Heart Institute specialty services.
The health system operates with a medical staff of more than 1,400 physicians representing over 60 specialties, providing the state’s finest and most comprehensive medical services. NGHS includes Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG), an employed group of more than 700 physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, midwives, and clinical staff spanning over 40 specialties at more than 50 locations across the region. The Georgia Heart Institute stands as the most forward-thinking heart and vascular program in the state, featuring one of the largest cardiology practices with over 120 clinicians seeing patients at more than a dozen locations.
NGHS operates five hospital campuses with a total of more than 1,000 beds: Gainesville (743 Spring Street NE), Braselton (1400 River Place), Winder (316 N Broad Street), Dahlonega (495 Highway 400), and Demorest (541 441 Historic Hwy N). The organization employs 10,001+ employees dedicated to providing seamless, high-quality care close to home for the community. As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, NGHS offers the NGHS Foundation for tax-deductible donations that fund critical life-saving projects, improvements, and complementary patient care services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
